Today is the most important day of your life, this is why we need to focus on today. When you’re focusing on today you have to forget about tomorrow. Focus on living in the present moment. When you practice being present, you’re building good habits for your future well-being. Bear in mind that present-moment awareness has been found to decrease stress and abrupt changes in your mood. This is because you have more control over your thoughts.

Living in the present moment is good for you and me. Being present in the present moment of your life actually makes you a happier, healthier human being. It can also lead to better moods, more energy, less emotional distress, and can even lessen emotional exhaustion. Improve the ability to cope with negative emotions like fear and anger.

With that being said, consider the following tips on how to live in the present moment.

      • Remove unneeded possessions

Minimalism is key. Removing items associated with past memories frees you and allows you to stop living in the past. Once the past no longer has power, you can begin to live in the moment.

      • Smile.

Simple and easy. Start your day with a smile. Start it with a smile. Be in control, and keep it optimistic and expectant. Be intentional about it and it will become second nature.

      • Fully appreciate the moments of today

Soak in as much of today as you possibly can – the sights, the sounds, the smells, the emotions, the triumph, and the sorrow.

      • Forgive past hurts.

Choose to forgive and move on. The harm was their fault, but allowing it to impact your mood today is yours. Let go and choose to be present at the moment instead.

      • Love your job

There are two solutions: find a new job that you actually enjoy or find something that you appreciate about your current career.

      • Dream about the future, but work hard today

Dream big. Set goals and plans for the future. But working hard today is always the first step towards realizing your dreams tomorrow.

      • Stop worrying

You can’t fully appreciate today if you worry too much about tomorrow. Realize that tomorrow is going to happen whether you worry about it or not.

Truly, we don’t know what tomorrow holds. However, we do know what we do today can heavily influence what comes next. Your long-term plans are accomplished one day at a time so take care of what you need to this day to maintain progress.

When you practice being present, you’re building good habits for your future well-being. The more reasons why we focus on today. If you can only live one moment at a time, you might as well make it the present.
