Did you know that allotting time fillers in your daily schedule will help your overall productivity? Time management is life management as well. We need to realize that the more we take control of our time, the more we are taking control of our lives. One of the best practices in time management is having a filler list

Time management is very important because it is a resource that we cannot take back once wasted. If we manage our time effectively it reduces our stress. Time management helps you prioritize your tasks so that you ensure you have enough time available to complete every project. The quality of your work increases when you’re not rushing to complete it ahead of a fast-approaching deadline.

There are always breaks in the day from the more intense work. When these breaks occur, one of the best ways to increase productivity is by filling that time with a few lighter things on the to-do list. Some people call this the ‘filler list’. These are things that need to get done, but perhaps don’t need hours or a quiet space. Maybe it’s sending a few text messages or answering emails or making calls you’ve been putting off.

Think about all of the 15-20 minute chunks of time you have in the day. If you add it up, there are at least 1-2 hours where you could be plowing through a ton of things.

Rituals for Productivity

You can also follow this simple ritual to boost productivity. Remember, being happy means being productive.

  • A cold shower.

The water increases your blood circulation and boosts your mood by releasing endorphins, all of which helps to make you more productive in your day

  • Leave the emails.
Instead, focus on completing an important piece of work and THEN check your emails.
  • Go on airplane mode.

Switch your phone and other electronic devices onto airplane mode to block out any distractions until you are finished.

  • Practice mindfulness.
Research has shown a link between workers who practice mindfulness and those who are successful in the workplace.
  • Write it down.
Writing things down in a journal is an excellent way to get the left-hand side of your brain fired up and working properly.
  • Have a break.
Frequent breaks help to keep the mind focused on the tasks at hand and can also be a tool for ensuring that you don’t let jobs drag on longer than they should.
  • Meditate.
It has been shown in studies to ease psychological stress and make you a better multitasker.
  • Get physical
Exercise stimulates the development of mitochondria within your cells, which gives you more mental and physical energy.
  • Center yourself.
This ritual will help you stay calm if you then encounter stressful situations for the rest of your day.

Follow these simple rituals and make use of the filler list and you are on the road to being productive.
